The History of the Original Franck Muller Casablanca Watch

The story of the Franck Muller Casablanca watch is one that has been told over and over again, but it's a tale worth telling. The Casablanca watch is the first chronograph wristwatch in history to have a round dial and a rotating bezel. The design of the dial was influenced by French aviator Emile-Auguste Chopard, who was part of one of the world's first aerial reconnaissance missions during World War I. The story begins in 1904, when 18-year-old Emile became fascinated with aviation after he attended an air show for the first time with his uncle. He began designing aircrafts himself and made his own fully functional plane in 1911 called the Emilienne which could fly at 100 mph.
